A gallery owner commented, upon viewing my body of work,
“Come back if you ever have any still lifes to show me." Consequently I developed a schema for approaching still lifes that was radically different from the way that I worked my Patty Pan Series. I enjoy working both ways. Still lifes turn out to be more of an academic challenge to me, as I am held accountable for volume, subject accuracy, and principles of shadow and light. I often employ the basic complementary principles of the color wheel to insure the background showcases the fruits and vegetables in a bright jewel-like manner. Included are a few flower compositions. The Still Lifes are not part of the Patty Pan Pastel Series.
